MIXI, along with our colleague’s in Special Education, were awarded a $1.244M work force development grant from the State University of New York for their R2E2ADI (Recruiting and Retaining Educators for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) project. The grant supports the recruitment of outstanding applicants to become teachers in high needs teaching areas, and to their training in Adelphi’s programs as they develop the knowledge and practice to become innovative educators and powerful advocates for public school students in New York City.
For MIXI, this build on our existing relationship with the NYC Teaching Fellows, expanding on our cohort of science educators to include Math and Computer Science. Adelphi is the first and only Teaching Fellows partner to offer a CS certification program.
Applications are now open for the 2025 cohort. Teaching Fellows complete an intensive summer training
program, including 3 graduate courses at Adelphi and field-based practicum with NYC Schools. They earn
a summer stipend and will be certified to teach in New York City Public Schools in Fall 2025, where they
begin as full time teachers in with NYC Public Schools. Adelphi Teaching Fellows complete the
Master’s in STEAM Teaching and Learning at the Adelphi NYC campus over the
course of two years, with full tuition funding supported through the grant.
Apply through Teaching Fellows and indicate Adelphi as your first choice for the Master’s.
